Dear Alison
Just to let you know that I enjoyed your course very much last Sunday. It has answered a lot of questions about chicken keeping for me and filled me with enthusiasm to get on and get some chickens of my own.
As we were all chatting about everything I didn’t get to comment on my scrambled egg breakfast which was absolutely delicious. The whole colour and taste was totally different from the scramble I make with shop bought eggs. Also my compliments to the chef as everything was beautifully prepared and presented.
The whole course was informative and fun and I may be back for a refresher once I get my own chicken.
Thank you again and best wishes
Gillian
Chicken Keeper Book
Chicken Keeping is a joy. You will have a constant supply of the most yummy eggs you have ever had and the fun of watching your hen’s personalities develop as they go about their day, chatting to each other whilst looking for tasty morsels in the ground. I want to encourage every one who is considering keeping a few chickens in the garden to take the plunge and go for it. You will be amazed at how friendly and tame the chickens become and how much fun they are to have around.
I originally wrote this book to accompany the Chicken Keeper courses I run, but it has now grown to a point where it has become a book in its own right and I hope it will both inspire you to order your hen house now and reassure you that you will be able to cope with all eventualities in this most rewarding of hobbies.
The book is £9.50 with free P&P or collect from Hook Farm for Alison to personalise it to you. If ordering for postage, please send a cheque, payable to Hook Farm, to Hook Farm, London Rd, Hook RG27 9EQ.

Kill, Pluck, Gut and Bone Course £75

If you have raised meat chickens, or are thinking of raising them, then this course is an absolute must. Alison is a DEFRA registered poultry slaughter woman and we run practical, hands on courses where we kill, pluck, gut and bone Hubbard meat chickens. The courses run on Saturday and Sunday mornings and sometimes on weekend afternoons. Participants take home one chicken ready to cook and eat and a second to finish preparing a few days later, together with the Meat Chicken Keeper book. The courses are relaxed and numbers are limited to keep the sessions informal and friendly.

For more details of the course and to check course dates click on the Courses tab at the top and select the course on the left hand side. You can book online from the date link and we very much look forward to seeing you on a course soon.
